MontageBlackpool swimmers compete at a range of levels from local school competitions through regional events right up to competing in national & international competitions. Current swimmers who have recently represented the club at a high levels include Deborah Magarry, who at masters level has won many Great British, European & World Championship medals in front crawl distance events; She also holds a number of British & European records. Arran Gallager (20) is a swimmer who has achieved a remarkable rise in ranking over the last few years, he currently has the 5th fastest time in the world this year for his 50m Breaststroke. He has also competed in the Northern Counties (Disability section) winning a total of five events & becoming Junior National Champion. On the weekend beginning the 25th April 2008, 20 year old Blackpool Swimming Club Member Arran Gallager will be competing at the British International Disability Swimming Championships which will also include the G.B selection trials for the Bejing Paralympics. Arran will be racing in the 400, 100 and 50m frestyle and the 100m Breastroke at Sheffield's ponds Forge. Craig Tinkler (17) another Blackpool member recently competed in the Lancashire Championships competition, where he was the most successful swimmer of his age. Many other Blackpool S.C. swimmers compete and do well in Local & Regional competitions either as individuals or as part of a team.

FlyUnderWaterRecently Daniel Douglas travelled to Vancouver, Canada during the summer holidays 2006. He entered a competition over 10 days. Daniel swam against other swimmers from other countries around the world. Daniel won 4 Gold, 1 Silver, and 3 Bronze Medals. Mark Spitz presented Daniel with his 100m Butterfly Gold Medal, with a few words of wisdom. Mark Spitz is, the American swimmer who at age 22, in 1972 made history by winning 7 gold medals and breaking 7 world records in the one 1972 Olympics. Not bad eh! Daniel also came away with a signed autograph. Well Done Daniel, hopefully he'll be back from injury and competing again soon.

2008 North Lancs - Congratulations to everyone who competed in this competition you did yourself and your club proud. Many Personal Best Times were shattered by huge margins and all the swimmers can be proud of what they achieved. Improvements can still be made though, so it is down to the swimmers and the coaches to work together to train hard and often in order to perfect your swimming and eradicate any minor faults, to see you compete to full potential. See the Swimming#Age Groups link for more information.

TakeOverBlackpool swam in Division 2 of the National Speedo League for the 2nd year running and have performed very well. Our performance in the league this year reflects the improvements we have achieved since our relocation to Palatine Leisure Centre 3 years ago.

Our swimmers performed well in their individual events, as well as in their team races, showing a real sense of team spirit throughout. The coach’s observations suggest that the swimmers thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and finishing an impressive 2nd of 6 was an added bonus. Our result was helped by the fact not one of our swimmers or relay teams were disqualified! Keep up the good swimming.

We are all looking forward to the next fixture (Team Sheet) on Saturday the 10/11/2007, when we will hopefully get the opportunity to improve on our times and results. Congratulations goes out to each and every swimmer who competed from the all the coaches. - Kath Turner, Head Coach

Club Championships

BkBoyOur Club Championships were run at Palatine Pool at 7pm on Tuesday 06/11/2007, at 5pm on Sunday 11/11/2007 and at 7pm on Tuesday 13/11/2007. Next year enter as many races as you can, get your entries in to the club desk ASAP If you any questions please speak to your Head Coach Kath Turner, or any coach or Club Committee Member who will only be too happy to help you. Swimmers remember your Club Swim caps, Club Costume/Trunks, at least 2 pairs of Goggles and plenty of fluids, take lots of drinks to prevent dehydration, as this will cause very poor performance Please give your full support to all Team swimmers. We will appreciate any help on poolside from any parents. To run a successful gala we need as much support as possible to ensure a gala run smoothly. Parents we are asking you to step forward and help out with your swimming club. The more the better. For example, we will need 8 Timekeepers for each gala. If you would like to help out. Please see Kath, Paul, Sue or any Committee member at the desk who will only be too happy to help out. Good Luck.
